How to Trade Weekends

If everyone trades at least two weekends--one into each of the other letter series--this will ensure that everyone gets to hang with everyone else.

Here's how to trade: Send an e-mail to all house members and enter in the subject line your sex, letter series, and the weekend you want to like to give up or acquire. The subject line should read either:

      Male C wants to give up 7/19

      or

      Female C wants to acquire 6/14 - B


This allows house members to easily consider and delete messages without opening them. Include any other pertinent information in the body of the message.

Once you have worked out a trade, please e-mail me, ccing the other person. The subject line should read:

      Confirming trade of 6/14 for 6/21

I'll reschedule you and send back an e-mail confirming your trade. IMPORTANT: Your trade does not exist until you've received that e-mail.

Obviously, some weekends are more desirable than others, so don't be surprised if no one responds to your attempt to trade 5/31 for 8/16. (Likewise, please offer desirable weekends in response to trade requests.) Also, if you don't get any response, give it a week or two and then float out your trade again, as schedules are always in flux.


It is best to trade with people of the same sex. (Or pretty close to the same sex.) If you can only trade with the opposite sex, I can always rework the bed assignment as necessary.

Obviously, it is best for couples to trade with other couples (unless you want to mix it up--your choice...) So if you are a couple, or two people trading, please put that in the subject line as well.

Weekends can never be sold or given to someone else.

Even if you don't need to trade, please consider other house members' trade requests (especially the last-minute ones) and bail them out. This is the nicest thing you can do for another house member and a credit will be wired into you karmic account when you need to trade away an upcoming weekend at the last minute. Besides, you never know when the name of the house and the name of the town might take on a special meaning...
