Dear Guest,
First, thank you for coming to Chance. Please pay your guest fees to the house member who invited you. For guest fee amounts, please click here.
Your guest fees underwrite what we eat and drink, and any shortfall is divided by house members. Therefore, it is important that you show up for your reserved spot.
If you can't make it, advance notice is greatly appreciated. Most of our weekends have a waitlist, and with adequate notice, we can find someone to take your spot.
Please do not last-minute flake or no-show, as every house member present will have to cover a share of those lost guest fees. Last-minute flakers will not be invited back.
A note about the weather: Fire Island is temperate and its weather forecasts are notoriously inaccurate. The weather here is often different from the City, and sometimes different from the mainland. Weekends with poor forecasts frequently end up being nice (as was famously the case with Labor Day 2006). Conversely, weekends with great forecasts can unexpectedly become partly to mostly shitty. Some of the most fun weekends have unfolded amid terrible weather. Bear in mind that beachgoing is only one aspect of what we do. We eat and drink like kings rain or shine. Night-time carousing knows no weather forecast. Also, crappy days regularly make for otherworldly night-time beachgoing. Ultimately, we're just not the kind of people who allow our fun to be pegged to predictions made by Al Roker.
We're a spontaneous, diverse, respectful group of single New Yorkers, and multiple couples have resulted from guest visits. What would have happened if one of these people had flaked due to inclement weather? I’ll tell you what would have happened. A lot more lonely nights spent scooping up pad-thai in front of Law & Order before masturbating themselves to sleep, that’s what would have happened. Please remember both the name of the town and the name of the house and surrender to whatever the weekend holds in store.
I look forward to meeting you...
John
