John BlessoA bit about me: I spent three years in France where I learned how to eat, drink, cook, converse, and generally appreciate a slower, more leisurely existence. Since returning to the U.S. I started a small press, published a book of alternative fiction, ghostwrote a WWII memoir, and have worked as an editor, a nanny, a tutor and a bartender. I am not the proud parent of an honors student.

Upon first coming to Kismet, I fell in love with its relaxed, tolerant pace, its lack of cars, its wild, green growth and pristine beaches. I knew that Kismet was the perfect place to replicate the cool, epicurean lifestyle I first experienced at Cannes, Monte Carlo and other beach towns on the French Riviera. The French are rock stars when it comes to eating, drinking and...well, you know...and their philosophies in those areas gel nicely with the American ingenuity and can-do-ism of our house.

A modest real estate portfolio has been a sideline for the past ten years, making me something of a slacker with equity. I'm an artistic cross-trainer and a hard-core eater. Also, I recently published my behind-the scenes memoir of running Chance:

Sharehouse Confidential

Sex, Drugs, and the Single Life Inside an Epicurean Beach House

John Blesso is the maestro of his Fire Island orchestra, madly conducting the participants in his hedonistic social experiment. It's an entertaining punch that connects, making it surely the best beach read of summer or, better yet, the television successor to Sex and The City.--Graham Murphy, McSweeneys
